Fun for kids at Heritage Festival

Events and activities for children will be running throughout the entire Heritage Festival in Ypsilanti.
Centered on the Children’s Village in Riverside Park, there will be plenty to keep children of all ages busy during the three-day festival.
Tecumseh-based Kelly Inflatables will be returning this year to operate several bounce houses in the park – from single room inflatable structures to action-packed obstacle courses. Wrist bands will be available to allow access all day.
The bounce houses will be open from noon – 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday.
An Activity and Crafts Tent will also be in operation all weekend. Sponsored by the Girl Scouts of America, the tent will be open from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Ypsilanti District Library is scheduled to sponsor the tent from 12 – 6 p.m. Saturday and The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is a scheduled sponsor from 12:30 – 4:30 Sunday.
The Tot Spot, a play area for toddlers will run outside the Activity and Crafts Tent.
Ypsilanti Cooperative Preschool will paint faces from 12 – 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Shows for the children will run in the afternoon at the tent. Acts include magic shows, clowns, music, storytelling, comedy and plays.
Children’s entertainment kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and lasts until the early evening. Sunday’s performances start at 2 p.m. and end after a drum circle at 3:30 p.m.
Performers from Erikson Elementary School will hit the stage at 4:30 p.m.
The Lincoln High School Drama Club will be putting on a show called “Peggy, the Pint-Sized Pirate” at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Finally, the Moo and You Petting Farm will operate on the south side of the park Saturday and Sunday. Michigan farm animals will be in the park 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday.
