Four day music festival draws more than 1,000 to Ypsilanti

More than 40 bands took the stage during four nights at Mittenfest IV, which wrapped Sunday evening after sets by Fred Thomas, Misty Lyn and the Big Beautiful, Secret Twins and more.
The annual show, which has grown rapidly since its humble beginning as a small, one-day gathering at the Corner Brewery four years ago, is a benefit for Ann Arbor’s 826Michigan.
Amy Sumerton, who runs 826Michigan and is one of Mittenfest’s organizers along with its founder, Brandon Zwagerman, said this year brought in more than $11,000.
“It’s ridiculous – it has been double the size of last year,” Zwagerman said. “Everyone has been super enthusiastic and all the bands have been really supportive of each other and everything.”
Elbow Room owner Andy Garris said the bar saw around 1,000 people come in throughout the weekend and sold out every night.
