Servicemembers past and present gathered with their families today for a Veterans Day celebration in their honor at Concordia University

The ceremony featured the University of Michigan Joint Forces Honor Guard raising a flag that previously flew above the state capital and a keynote speech from Miss Michigan, Nicole Blaszczyk.

Following the ceremony, which also included performances by the 338th US Army Field Band and Concordia Choir, a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter flew over the gathering and landed in a field next to the school.

A crew from Selfridge Air National Guard Base, who manned the copper in Iraq, answered questions from guests touring the aircraft after the ceremony.
