In an effort to save money in the budget, Lincoln Consolidated Schools will now be holding its elections in November.
The unanimous decision was made by the district's board of education Monday night. It could save the district $20,000 - to $30,000 per election, which are usually held in May.
"It's pretty cut and dry," said the district's superintendant, Lynn Cleary.
Because elections in November are often shared with federal and state ballot measures, the district would be able to share in the cost of putting on their elections with those agencies.
The change means all of the board trustees will have a one-time extension of six months added to their terms and will now take their seats in January after being elected.
The decision required the board open up time for audience members to address the issue. None of the members of the audience stood up to speak.
Board trustees Jan Upston and James Paschal, as well as Vice President Greg Gurka were absent from the meeting.
