Ypsilanti Schools accept transportation consolidation

YPS singles out superintendent contender

The Ypsilanti Board of Education has announced that Dedrick Martin, executive director of equity and achievement for the Champaign, Ill. unit four school district, is the lead candidate for YPS superintendent.

The board is planning a site visit to Champaign, Ill., scheduled later this month.

Martin, a Muskegon native, served in a number of administrative roles in Missouri City, Texas before taking on his current position.

Dr. Sandra Harris, superintendent of Oak Park Public Schools and a contender for the superintendent position, contacted Dr. Michael Emlaw, the consultant hired by YPS to assist in the search, and asked that her name be removed from consideration Wednesday night.
