All the school districts in the Ypsilanti area have canceled after school activities this evening due to inclement weather.
Ypsilanti Public Schools, Lincoln Consolidated Schools and Willow Run Community Schools have all announced the cancellations this afternoon.
“This does not include Champions after school child care, which will maintain normal operational hours,” a release from YPS said. “Our buildings will remain open for any adult booster club or community group meetings already scheduled, that wish to proceed.”
A winter storm warning is currently in effect for the Ypsilanti area until 10 a.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service is expecting 5 to 9 inches of snow to fall throughout the day and overnight.
The storm as also closed Washtenaw Community College this evening. The college announced it is canceling classes beginning at 5 p.m. Classes will remain closed until 11 a.m. Wednesday.
An announcement from Eastern Michigan University said they are monitoring the situation, but classes remain open.
