Ypsilanti Police issued a poster and artist’s rendering of the man wanted in connection with the shooting of Michael James Roy, of Fowlerville. A $1,000 reward will be offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the unknown suspect.
Nearly six weeks have passed since Fowlerville man shot to death

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect said to be involved in the homicide of a Fowlerville man in early January.
The unnamed suspect is said to be involved in the death of Michael James Roy, who was shot twice during what police are calling “a drug related issue gone bad” at the 800 block of Green Road, off of Leforge Road.
Police responded to the call at 12:18 a.m. Jan. 5. They arrived on the scene and found Roy dead in a hallway inside an apartment, according to reports from the Ypsilanti Police department. After further investigation at the scene, police discovered that a small amount of marijuana was stolen.
The poster says the suspect is armed with a .357 caliber semi-automatic handgun. Ypsilanti Police Chief Matt Harshberger said shell casings recovered at the scene match those that would be fired by this type of firearm.
The suspect in the shooting is described as a male in his 20s with scruffy facial hair, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches in height, wearing a tan Carhartt jacket, tan boots and a baseball cap. Officials believe the suspect's name may be Jermaine or he may go by the street name of OD or OT. Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to call the Ypsilanti Police Department at 734-483-9510.
This is the second homicide in Ypsilanti so far this year according to the police department.
