A 19-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident faces arraignment this morning after he allegedly shot and killed a Ypsilanti Township resident.
Washtenaw County Sheriff's Cmdr. Dieter Heren said on ongoing feud between two different parties led to the homicide of 18-year-old Cortez Donald near his home at the 200 block Kirk Street in Ypsilanti Township Thursday afternoon.
Heren said the argument was allegedly surrounding an outstanding debt of $40 on an $80 watch owed by Donald’s friend.
“The victim brandished a gun, put away the gun and the other party shot him,” Heren said Friday afternoon.
Donald was found at the side of his residence and transported to St. Joseph where he was pronounced dead.
Several people were taken into custody Friday according to Heren. He said the detectives worked long hours Thursday and Friday, which led to the arrest of the 19-year-old.
