Burglary
Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Zephyr Street in Ypsilanti Township for a burglary at approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The suspect gained entry into the residence by kicking in the back door during the day. One gray fire lock box and a pair of diamond stud earrings were taken. The homeowner noticed a suspicious black male in her neighbor’s back yard racking leaves, when she turned to confront him, he was gone.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 50 years old, wearing a black skull cap, green army type jacket, blue jeans and dirty tan timberland boots. This case is still under investigation.
Aggravated Assault
Deputies were dispatched to Ypsilanti Township to meet with a stabbing victim at approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim reported she had gone into a gas station on Ford Road in Ypsilanti Township when she recognized her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend, who she has had problems with in the past. While leaving the store she was approached by the suspect and they began to fight.
After the altercation, the victim got back into her car, and noticed she was stabbed in the chest. She drove to the 1300 block of Ecorse Road whereupon she requested for a citizen to call 911.
A call was put out for the suspect and her vehicle. Within a short time, a deputy made a traffic stop and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The victim, a 27-year-old Ypsilanti Township woman, was treated and released from St. Joe Hospital for a stab wound to her upper torso, and scrapes and small lacerations on her face.
The suspect, a 29-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident was arrested. She was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital for a cut on her hand. After her medical treatment, she was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail. The report will be forwarded to the prosecutor.
Chase leads to arrest
Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Deputy Visel pursued a vehicle that failed to stop after signaled to so at approximately 2:15 a.m. today on Michigan Avenue near Hewitt Road, in Ypsilanti Township.
The vehicle continued east bound on Michigan, fleeing the police, until pulled onto Wallace, and the driver got out of the car and ran on foot. After a short foot pursuit Visel captured the suspect, 18-year-old Tezmonta Jarmel Evans, and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail.
Evans had five warrants and will be arraigned today on charges of assault with intent to murder, felonious assault, discharging a firearm and possession of a firearm.
Arraignment for aggravated assault
A suspect in an aggravated assault over a parking space stood mute to five charges and was issued a $10,000 bond during her arraignment yesterday.
According to police, the original incident took place at 5 p.m. Monday, on the 600 block of Belmont Street in Ypsilanti Township, when Kim Elaine Dunklin, 45, came home and noticed someone was parked in a handicap space that she wanted to park in. The space did not have the proper signage.
The report said Dunklin became upset when confronting the neighbor who had parked in the space, and assaulted her.
The victim, who had sustained several injuries, was treated at the scene by HVA. Dunklin was arrested and transported to the Washtenaw County Jail.
Dunklin faces charges of aggravated assault, illegal entry resisting and obstructing police, a suspended license and assault and battery.
Deputies handled four traffic crashes throughout the County.
