Ypsilanti Township authorizes litigation against Liberty Square

Driver arrested after fatal crash Monday night

A 46-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night, according to a statement the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident, was arrested by police after the crash for driving without a license and was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail.

The incident occurred at 10:17 p.m. on Ellsworth Road, west Hewitt Road in Ypsilanti Township.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing the street, heading south, when a 1998 Dodge Intrepid was traveling east and struck him. He was transported to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said a report will be forwarded to the prosecutor's office for review.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Traffic Division is currently investigating this crash, and ask anyone with any information about the incident to contact the WCSO confidential tip line at 734-973-7711 or Deputy McMullen at 973-4482.
