Drunk driving accident
Two men were hospitalized Thursday after a car accident in Ypsilanti Township.
Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Hewitt Road near Michigan Avenue at 3 p.m., where they said they discovered the driver at fault, a 50-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident, was under the influence of alcohol.
The other driver, a 27-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident, was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital, where police said the person was treated for non life-threatening injuries from the crash.
Police said the driver at fault was brought to St. Joe Hospital, where a blood draw was conducted and minor injuries were treated.
Police said a report will be forwarded to the prosecutor.
‘Suspicious incident’ leads to arrests
Two men were arrested Thursday after deputies discovered they had existing arrest warrants.
Originally responding to a complaint that the two men, Darold Bud Ryan Jr., 22, Joseph Elia Dezarov, 27, were running up to a home on the 1000 block of Coleman Street at 5:30 p.m., deputies arrested the two for their warrants and transported them to the Washtenaw County Jail and the Canton Police Department respectively.
Police said Ryan had warrants from the sheriff’s office for larceny from a vehicle, Pittsfield Public Safety for shoplifting and the Department of Natural Resources for fishing without a license.
They said Dezaroy had a warrant for shoplifting from the Canton Police Department.
Burglary
A laptop was reported stolen from a Superior Township home Thursday.
Called to the 8600 block of Macarthur Boulevard at 3:30 p.m., deputies said entry was gained through the front door during the day.
Suspects are unknown at this time.
