Patrol car shot
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information about an incident that left one of the department’s patrol cars shot this morning.
Deputies were responding to a “unruly crowd” on the 9300 block of Macarthur Boulevard at 12:35 a.m., according to a report issued by the department this afternoon.
“As the crowd dispersed and the deputies were driving away, several gun shots occurred,” the report said.
Police said deputies discovered one patrol car had been hit by the shooting.
The matter is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the confidential tip line at 734.973.7711.
Burglary
A 17-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident was arrested Thursday for his involvement in a reported break-in in Ypsilanti Township.
Deputies responded to the 900 block of Desoto Street at 11 a.m., where a burglary in progress had been reported.
“The homeowner reported hearing glass break and commotion in his basement,” A report issued by the department this afternoon said. “The two suspects fled the house.”
Police said deputies located and arrested one suspect, who was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail. Police said they are still searching for the second suspect.
Shoplifting
Two Ypsilanti Township teenagers were arrested Thursday after allegedly attempting to take cosmetics from an Ypsilanti Township business.
Deputies responded to the 2500 block of Ellsworth Road at 5:30 p.m., where it had been reported that three subjects walked into the store and attempted to conceal more than $40 in merchandise.
Police said the third suspect left the scene before the deputies arrived.
The 19-year-old suspect had a warrant for her arrest, police said, and was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail. The 15-year-old suspect was arrested and turned over to a family member.
Shoplifting
A 20-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident was arrested Thursday for attempting to take personal hygiene products from an Ypsilanti Township business.
Deputies responded to the 3100 block of Washtenaw Avenue at 5:50 p.m., where it had been reported the suspect had walked into the store and attempted to conceal more than $70 in merchandise.
The suspect was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail.
