An 18-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident is listed in critical condition after being struck by a tow truck Wednesday.
A release issued by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office today said the incident occurred at 8:30 p.m. on east-bound Michigan Avenue, east of Wiard Road in Ypsilanti Township.
Deputies, Ypsilanti Township firefighters and Huron Valley Ambulance responded to the scene, the report said. The 2001 International Tow Truck hit the south-bound pedestrian as he was crossing the street.
The driver of the truck, a 31-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident, was not injured, the report said. The pedestrian was transported to St. Joseph Hospital.
The report said the matter is still under investigation, and anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the tip line at 734-973-7711.
