Attempted robbery
An Ypsilanti Township store owner escaped injury and robbery when he ran out of his store Saturday.
Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 2000 block of McCartney at 1 p.m. for an attempted robbery call. Police said two subjects walked into the store with guns and pointed them at the owner, demanding money.
At that point, the owner ran out the back door, according to police. No money was taken and no injuries were reported.
The suspects, who are unknown at this time, are described as African American males standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 160 pounds. Both are reported to have a light-brown complexion with brown hair and brown eyes. One of the suspects had braids in his hair.
Burglary
Two laptop computers, one PlayStation Personal game system, two jackets and one 20-inch LCD TV were reported stolen from an Ypsilanti Township home Sunday.
Deputies were called to the 1300 block of Chestnut Drive at 2 a.m., where they discovered the front door had been pried open.
Suspects are unknown at this time.
Stolen Vehicle
A 1995 tan Oldsmobile Cutlass was reported stolen from an Ypsilanti Township apartment complex Sunday.
Deputies responded to the 5000 block of Bosuns Way at 10 a.m., where it was reported the vehicle had been taken from the parking lot.
Suspects are unknown at this time.
Retail fraud
A 53-year-old Ypsilanti Township woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to shoplift an Ypsilanti Township business Sunday.
Deputies responded to the 2000 block of Whittaker Road at 8:30 p.m., where it was reported the suspect attempted to conceal more than $50 in merchandise.
The woman was released at the scene. The case will be forwarded to the prosecutor.
Retail fraud
A 35-year-old Ypsilanti Township man was arrested and jailed Sunday after his arrest for attempting to shoplift an Ypsilanti Township business.
Deputies responded to the 2000 block of Whittaker Road at 10:30 p.m., where it was reported the suspect attempted to conceal $89 worth of merchandise.
He was arrested for the offence, as well as warrants for home invasion, assault and battery and illegal entry in Washtenaw County. He was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail.
