The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a shooting that took place in Ypsilanti Township Sunday.
The incident, which occurred during a birthday party at 1 p.m. on the 600 block of Villa Drive, left a 24-year-old woman shot in the leg, a report issued by police this afternoon said.
Police said the victim was leaving the party when she was shot in the leg by an unknown male at the party. She was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is unknown, but police believe the victim was not the intended target of the shooting.
The statement said the matter is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s tip line at 734-973-7711.
