A bag of animal parts was discovered on a trail near the Huron River and the 100 block of Grove Street south of Michigan Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
Officers were dispatched to the area to investigate and a K-9 team called in, and it was determined by the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner's Office that the organs belonged to a deer.
The bag was discovered by a man walking his dog and a large butcher's knife was found next to the bag.
