The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a vehicle suspected in a hit-and-run in Ypsilanti Township Saturday that hospitalized an 11-year-old.

According to a release received by the Citizen this morning, the victim was struck by the vehicle when leaving the Circle K party store on Clark Road on foot with two other teenagers at 11:20 p.m.

The vehicle, described as a mid-sized burgundy car with possible front-end damage and a missing part of its head lamp, was reportedly traveling north on Prospect Road, between Holmes and Clark roads, when it struck the Ypsilanti Township resident.

“The suspect vehicle continued north on Prospect Road fleeing the crash scene,” the release said. “The road conditions were wet and it was raining when this occurred.”

Anyone with information about the crash or the suspect vehicle is asked to call Detective Robert Losey, at 734-973-4791, or the WCSO confidential tip line, at 734-973-7711.
