Detectives from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the Ypsilanti Township man accused of possessing child pornography.
Brian Demarest, 41, was arraigned on eight counts of possession and distribution of child pornography and issued a $500,000 cash bond Friday. He was arrested in his home Thursday.
Deputies executed a search warrant in Demarest’s home on the 4700 block of Munger Road at 7 p.m. Thursday. He was arrested for allegedly possessing more than 1,000 images. A release issued by the WCSO today said detectives are still attempting to identify children pictured in some of the photographs, which appeared to have been taken by Demarest himself.
“The WCSO is also currently investigating Mr. Demarest regarding the sexual assault of unidentified children in the photographs,” the report said.
Police are asking anyone whose children have been in the company of Demarest, or in his home, to contact the two detectives investigating the matter. Anyone with information contact Detective Boivin at 734-973-4625 or Detective Parvis at 734-484-6740.
Demarest was remanded to the Washtenaw County Jail after his arraignment Friday. His pre-trial is scheduled for Nov. 12.
