Two suspects are believed to be involved in two different armed robberies which occurred near Eastern Michigan University this morning.

No one was harmed in either of the incidents, according to a release sent by EMU police to the campus community. The two incidents occurred within five minutes of 6 a.m. and one mile of each other.

The release said Ypsilanti Police are investigating the matter, and believe the same two suspects were involved in both incidents.

The first incident took place at 5:55 a.m. in the 1200 block of Leforge Road.

The release said the two suspects, one with a gun, approached the male victim and demanded money.

“The suspects took the victim’s cell phone, then fled in a dark vehicle in an unknown direction,” the release said.

The second incident took place at 6:04 a.m. in the 1400 block of Gregory Street. The release said two males were approached by two suspects matching a similar description who demanded money at gunpoint.

Again, the suspects took one of the victim’s cell pones, and fled in unknown direction.

Both suspects are described as African American males, standing 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches.

The fist suspect was described as wearing a red bandana covering the lower part of his face, a dark Carhart jacket, black sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans.

The second suspect is described as wearing a white bandana covering the lower part of his face, dark Carhart jacket, gray sweatshirt and baggy jeans.

The release said it is unclear if the victims were EMU students.

Anyone with any information on these crimes is asked to contact the Ypsilanti Police at 734-483-9510.
