No injuries were reported in an armed robbery that took place at 11:10 p.m. Saturday on Clark Road in the city of Ypsilanti.

According to a release issued by the Ypsilanti Police Department early this morning, a 20-year-old Ypsilanti resident and his friend were robbed of their wallets and a cell phone at gunpoint on the 700 Block of W. Clark Road.

YPD Sgt. Deric Gress said the two victims were outside their apartment building, on their way home, when “they got jumped.”

The report said the two were approached by the suspect, “who pointed a gun with one hand, and carried a bottle of alcohol in the other.”

Gress said the suspect ordered them into a common laundry room in the apartment building and told them to remove their clothing. The suspect left after the wallets and cell phone were taken.

After the incident, the report said one victim ran and has not yet been interviewed by police. The other victim went home and called his parents, who advised him to call the police.

Police said the investigation is on-going. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the YPD at 734-483-9510.
