Washtenaw County Sheriff's deputies are investigating two strong-armed robberies reported in Ypsilanti Township Monday.

Deputies responded to the 3100 block of Washtenaw Avenue at 3:50 p.m. and International Drive, near Golfside Road, at 11 p.m. Victims in both incidents reported no major injuries.

The victim in the first incident said he was approached by two suspects requesting to use his cell phone. The two reportedly demanded his wallet after he let them use his cell phone.

In the second incident, the victim was walking down Golfside when he was approached by the suspect, who demanded money.

“The victim was confused what the suspect wanted because of a language barrier, and the suspect assaulted him,” a release from the WCSO said.

In both instances, the suspects fled the scene and deputies were unable to locate them. Nothing was taken from the second victim before the suspect fled.

The two suspects in the first incident are described as black males in their mid-20s. On suspect in the first incident is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket, light jeans and white tennis shoes.

The second suspect in the Washtenaw Avenue incident is described as 6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a black coat, light-blue jeans, black sneakers and had a “scruffy beard.”

The suspect in the Golfside Road incident is described as a black male in his mid-20s wearing dark clothing.
