The Melvindale Cardinals beat Willow the Run Flyers in three straight games Monday night.

All three games went back and forth, however the Flyers couldn’t gain the edge on the visiting Cardinals.

After dropping the first game, the Flyers kept the second game close early with the score tied at seven. The Cardinals then went on a ten point run to take a commanding 17-7 lead.

After a timeout Willow Run rallied to make the score 17-11; however that is as close as it would get. Melvindale took eight out of the last eleven points to win the game 25-14.

The final game turned out to be the closest of the evening. Both teams would trade points, until Melvindale took the largest lead of the game at 24-19.

The Flyers scored two straight points to make it 24-21. Melvindale completed the sweep with the next point, winning the game 25-21.

Willow Run's next home match is at 7 p.m. Thursday, against Highland Park. It is also senior night for the members of the team who will be graduating.
