The Ypsilanti Sliders won the final game of a three game series against the division leading Kalamazoo Kings Wednesday night. James Albury (2-1) led the way, pitching 7 2-3 of scoreless baseball, allowing just one hit and striking out ten.

Jimmy Baker put the Sliders up early with a solo home run in the first inning. Baker went 3-4 for the game. An error by the Kings in the second inning put the Sliders up 2-0 when Ben Barrone scored on an error after leading off the inning with a walk.

That is all the run support Albury would need, not allowing a hit until one out in the sixth inning, only to come back and strike out the next two batters he faced.

The Sliders would add insurance runs in the seventh and ninth inning.

In the seventh inning, Roberto Mena singled and stole second base. Mena scored on Gilberto Zayas’s one out single.

With two outs in the ninth, Jeremy Jones drove in Mena for his second run of the night with a single.

Arshwin Asjes pitched the ninth inning for the Sliders, giving up one hit and striking out the side.

The Sliders will start a three game series in Lake Erie today, they will return to Oestrike Stadium Wednesday, July 24 with another three game series against Kalamazoo.
