Willow Run School board members cut short a citizen during the public comments time at the regular board meeting Thursday night when he began recounting the change of title and removal of former district Superintendent Doris Hope-Jackson.
With a three-page speech prepared, former board member Andy Blakita accused the current board of being dishonest with the citizens and parents in the district.
“It’s apparent the less parents and residents know, the more pleased this board is,” Blakita said.
Blakita went on to describe the change of position and eventual dismissal of Hope-Jackson from the district before being cut off in his comments.
“We do not comment on personnel issues,” said Board President Sheri Washington. She invited Blakita to continue with any other business he might have.
Blakita continued on to question whether the district was still paying Hope-Jackson’s salary before he was asked to sit down.
Blakita provided the full copy of his statements to the Ypsilanti Citizen, in which he alleges that Hope-Jackson is living in Illinois and still receiving her full salary.
Hope-Jackson was removed as district superintendent in December. She was given a new job in the district's administration, director of communication and assessment.
Before the board removed her from the superintendent position, Hope-Jackson had been absent for six weeks due to injuries sustained during a car accident. However, members of the board said there had been minimal communication from Hope-Jackson while she was away.
Former Kaiser Principal Laura Lisiscki was given an indefinite contract to serve as interim superintendent for the district by the board. The board has also contracted services from former district superintendent Youssef “Dr. Joe” Yomtoomb.
Rumors began circulating last month about Hope-Jackson being terminated in her new position, but no information has been provided to support such claims from either the board or Hope-Jackson.
