Attempted muder arraignment, stolen vehicle recovery

Attempted murder arraignment
The suspect in Monday’s Ypsilanti Township shooting was issued a $750,000 cash bond and charged with six felony counts Wednesday.

At the arraignment, Judge Charles Pope charged Bruce Lee, 33, with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, felony firearms and felon in possession of a firearm.

The original incident took place in the West Willow neighborhood of Ypsilanti Township. Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the corner of Cayuga and Eugene streets at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Police said the victim was sitting in his car outside his residence when hw was confronted by Lee. Reports said the two had a “brief verbal argument over a girl.”

According to reports, Lee shot at the victim, but missed. The victim fled the scene in his vehicle. Police said one shot was fired at the victim, and one shot was fired at his vehicle as he drove away. Both shots missed the victim.

Police said Lee fled in his vehicle, but was arrested Wednesday. He was remanded to the Washtenaw County Jail after his arraignment.

His pre-trial is scheduled for June 3.

Stop leads to stolen vehicle recovery
A traffic stop in Ypsilanti Township Wednesday, led to deputies recovering a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Highland Park.

Conducted on Bradley Avenue, near Grove Road, at 1:30 a.m., the stop led to the discovery that the 1992 Dodge van the 42-year-old suspect had been driving was stolen.

Police said the suspect, an Ypsilanti Township resident, was arrested and transported to the Washtenaw County Jail.
