The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating the early morning fatal shooting of 20-year-old Michael James Roy, originally of Fowlerville.
According to a YPD press release, police received report of the shooting at 12:18 a.m. at the 800 block of Green Road, off of Leforge Road. Police arrived on the scene and found Roy, shot twice, in a hallway inside an apartment.
After further investigation at the scene, police discovered that a small amount of marijuana was stolen. A report stated the incident “appears to be a drug related issue gone bad.”
The suspect in the shooting is described as a male in his 20s with scruffy facial hair, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches in height, wearing a tan Carhartt jacket, tan boots and a baseball cap.
