Robbers attack homeowner. Foreclosed home, church burglarized

Assault and robbery
Two Ypsilanti Township residents were arrested in Scio Township Tuesday for hospitalizing an Ypsilanti Township man in his home during a break-in last week.
The two suspects, 14 and 22 years old, were both arrested at the 500 block of Plum Street at 11 a.m. and transported to the Washtenaw County Jail, following an investigation by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.
The original incident had occurred when deputies were called to the 1300 block of McCarthy Court at 11:55 p.m. July 26, where it had been reported two suspects had broke a sliding glass door to gain entry to the residence.
“When the homeowner confronted the suspects, he was assaulted with a crow bar,” a report issued by police Wednesday night said.
Police said the man then activated his audible alarm and the suspects fled the residence with a wallet containing $100. The victim was treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Burglary
A 20-year-old Livingston County resident and an 18-year-old Saline resident were arrested Tuesday inside a foreclosed home in Ypsilanti Township.
Deputies responded to a burglary call on the 1700 block of Patrick Street at 9:30 a.m. Police discovered the two in the building.
The two were taken to the Washtenaw County Jail after police found a loaded handgun, suspected marijuana and paraphernalia on the suspects, who will be arraigned later today.
Burglary
An Ypsilanti Township church reported $30 in cash stolen Saturday.
Deputies responded to the Burning Bush Church of God on Ford Boulevard at 6:30 p.m., where it was discovered entry had been gained by prying open the front door.
Police said the investigation is continuing.
