No one hurt by bullet fired into apartment

A 45-year-old man was hospitalized early Friday morning after being assaulted and robbed on the 500 block of West Cross Street in Ypsilanti, according to a report from the YPD. Police responded to the scene of the crime at 1:10 a.m.

The victim, who police reported was intoxicated at the time of the assault, was assaulted by one person and had items removed from his pockets from a second person while he was on the ground. The victim was sent to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the assault.

The investigation into the case, which is being treated as a strong-arm robbery, is ongoing, according to the YPD.

Resident reports bullet fired through apartment walls
An apartment resident told police at 11:30 p.m. Friday that someone fired a bullet into his apartment on the 1100 block of Huron River Drive in Ypsilanti, though no one was injured in the incident.

Officers responding to the scene reported finding a projectile resulting from a bullet that had gone through numerous walls.

Despite the fact that no injuries were reported to police, the YPD said an investigation into the shots fired is ongoing.

Man assaulted after leaving bar
A 56-year-old man told Ypsilanti Police officers he was assaulted just after midnight Friday after leaving a bar on the 10 block of South Washington Street in downtown Ypsilanti.

The Ypsilanti Police Department reported that the victim was intoxicated and asked to leave the bar. Once outside, he became engaged in a dispute with someone and was assaulted, according to the report.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, YPD reported.

Man threatened with knife after dispute
A 26-year-old man was arrested by Ypsilanti Police officers at 2:45 a.m. Friday on the 200 block of South Grove Street in Ypsilanti after threatening a 29-year-old victim with a knife, according to a report from the YPD.

When police arrived, the victim reported being threatened by the suspect after the two were involved in a dispute. Officers located the suspect, who was attempting to hide, and arrested him.

The suspect was lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail, police reported.

Victim assaulted after loaning out vehicle
Ypsilanti Police responded to the report of a home invasion and assault at 12:30 p.m. Friday on the 100 block of South Washington in downtown Ypsilanti.

The victim reported loaning a vehicle out to a group of people, who tried to extort money from the victim, according to a report by the YPD. Suspects then assaulted the victim and demanded money, according to the account.

Suspects entered the victim's apartment and stole a set of car keys. One 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident, though other suspects fled the area.

Investigation into the assault and home invasion is ongoing, according the the YPD.

Laptop stolen from apartment
Ypsilanti Police responded to a report of a home invasion at 2 p.m. Friday on the 400 block of Ballard Street in Ypsilanti.

According to a report from the YPD, an unknown subject cut a window screen and entered the victim's apartment. A laptop computer was reported stolen from the apartment. No suspects have been identified by the YPD.

Ex-boyfriend steals medicine from former girlfriend
Ypsilanti Police officers responded to a complaint of a home invasion at 6:01 p.m. Friday on the 500 block of Washtenaw Avenue in Ypsilanti. The female victim told officers her ex-boyfriend barged into the residence and stole medication.

No arrests have yet been reported by the YPD in connection to the crime.

Car reported stolen
The owner of a burgundy Oldsmobile Cutlass reported to Ypsilanti Police at 10:16 p.m. Friday that his car was stolen from near the intersection of East Cross and Miles streets in Ypsilanti.

The man told police he had ran out of gas a couple of days ago and his car was missing when he returned.

Larceny from vehicle
Ypsilanti Police responded to a complaint of a car break-in at 1:30 p.m. Friday. According to the report, an unknown person smashed out a car window and stole a laptop computer from inside the vehicle, parked on the 500 block of West Cross Street in Ypsilanti.
