Regular season to start on road Wednesday

The Sliders of Ypsilanti won the first of two spring training games with the Traverse City Beach Bums Saturday.

The Sliders, winning the first game 4-2 behind a great team effort and sound pitching from Doug Brooks and Jonathan Hollis.

Losing the second game 3-2, the Sliders fought the whole game. “We had good pitching, we battled and competed,” said Manager Eric Coleman. “We will continue to work, and get ready for Wednesday.”

Saturday’s doubleheader puts the Sliders ahead of the Beach Bums for the exhibition series, with a 7-2 victory Friday night.

The Sliders open the season on the road against the Florence Freedom Wednesday. The home opener is May 29, against the Windy City Thunderbolts at Oestrike Stadium.
