Items stolen from business, apartment

A 17-year-old woman told Ypsilanti Police officers that at 5:18 p.m. Thursday she was jumped by two other young women and her purse was taken near the 300 block of West Michigan Avenue.

Two juvenile female suspects, a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old, were found a few blocks away and were arrested and processed by Ypsilanti Police and turned over to their parents. The victim was not injured in the robbery, and the case has been referred to the prosecutor's office.

Apartment burglarized
Ypsilanti Police officers were dispatched to an apartment building on the 200 block of Ballard Street in Ypsilanti at 9:30 p.m. Saturday by a caller who said a group of people were leaving the apartment after possibly breaking in.

Upon arrival, officers determined that someone entered the apartment through an open bedroom window and various electronic items were reported stolen. The YPD said officers checked the area for suspects, but have not identified any; they reported the investigation is ongoing.

Business burglarized
A local business on the 1800 block of Washtenaw Avenue in Ypsilanti was broken into sometime Wednesday night, the YPD reported.

No witnesses or suspects have been identified at this time, and multiple items were stolen from inside, according to a report by the YPD.

Door damaged in attempted home invasion
A resident on the 1100 block of Ivy Lane in Ypsilanti told police at 1:56 a.m. Friday that someone was trying to kick in the door to the residence.

Ypsilanti Police officers reported that, upon arrival, no suspects were seen in the area and suspects did not gain entry to the residence, though the door was damaged.

Attempted home invasion
The resident of an apartment on the 1000 block of Huron River Drive in Ypsilanti told police someone was breaking into the apartment at 12:51 a.m. Thursday.

Upon arrival, Ypsilanti Police officers checked the area and did not locate any potential suspects. No damage was done to the door and the suspects did not get inside the apartment, police reported.

Boyfriend arrested for domestic violence
A 22-year-old woman told police at 10:15 a.m. Saturday her live-in boyfriend had assaulted her and ransacked the apartment.

The 23-year-old male suspect left the apartment before Ypsilanti Police officers arrived on the scene, but was found later when officers saw his vehicle on the 900 block of West Michigan Avenue. YPD officers arrested the man on the charge of domestic violence.

Two thefts from unlocked vehicles
Two thefts occurred last week in which a suspect entered an unlocked automobile to steal valuables inside.

A unlocked car parked on the 700 block of Pearl Street in Ypsilanti was entered Wednesday night and electronic equipment was reported missing. Another unlocked car parked on the 700 block of Mildred Street in Ypsilanti was entered sometime before 10 a.m. Friday, when the owner reported cash and books were missing.

Report of shots fired
At 12:20 a.m. Thursday, a caller told Ypsilanti Police shots were fired in the area of 600 Armstrong Drive in Ypsilanti, then hung up.

Officers checked the area and reported finding nothing out of place.

Man arrested on warrant
Ypsilanti Police arrested a 48-year-old man at 5 a.m. Saturday for an outstanding warrant for domestic violence and reported finding rocks of cocaine on the suspect.

Police were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Towner Street in Ypsilanti, where the man was refusing to leave. After investigation, officers found he had a valid warrant for his arrest and found the drugs when searching the man prior to arresting him.
