Ypsilanti Police looking for information on two suspects

Nov. 8, 2009    ·    12:36 p.m.

Ypsilanti Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred downtown early this morning.

According to a notice sent out the Eastern Michigan University Department of Public Safety, a group of four males were robbed at gunpoint by two suspects at 1:50 a.m. at the corner of Pearl and Washington streets.

The report, a “timely warning” to the EMU community, said the victims left an establishment near the location they were robbed and were approached by the two suspects, who pointed a handgun at them.

“The victims complied and the suspects ran north from that location,” the report said.

No injuries were reported. The notice said the suspects took cellular phones and cash.

Both suspects are described as African American males standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall. The first suspect is described in his late 20s with a thin build and wearing a black baseball cap and black hooded-sweatshirt.

The second suspect is described in his mid-to-late 30s with a grayish beard and medium build.

The report said none of the victims were EMU students.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Ypsilanti Police at 734-483-9510.
